In cooperation with the LA County Sheriff’s Department and a wonderful non-profit organization called Friends Outside, ROM will develop a Book Club for mothers and their teens on the outside.  Stay tuned!

This Wednesday, we begin reading Lev Grossman’s The Magicians – the first in this series…

We also must break the Club into TWO sessions since there is a waiting list and the usual 10 spaces are filled and 10 more students want to join! YAY!

“The Magicians is an enthralling coming-of-age tale about magic practiced in the real world-where good and evil aren’t black and white, and power comes at a terrible price.” – from the NY Times Review

2012: A New Year with a Full Cup!

We’ve launched our 2012 Book Club season!  Clubs have started up with new books and new members all reading and sharing what they love (or don’t!) about each book.

We’re also in the beginning stages of forming a relationship with the Cornerstone Foundation, a community service non-profit in San Ignacio Belize!

Stay tuned for more news as our relationship develops…

Thank You to all those who support ROM!

In March of this year we started our first Book Club in the kitchen at VFC, and in September Pasadena Arts Council granted Fiscal Sponsorship.

As we near the end of this glorious year, we have 4 concurrent Clubs, with hopes for 2 more in 2012 and we have raised over $3700!  As founder and program director, I want to thank all of those who have given their donations, time, and care to those who participate in ROM’s Book Club programs.  ROM exists only by the generous graces of all of you.  I wish you health, prosperity and love in the coming year and every year.

Thank You,

Lauren Lovett
